A defoliation technique in which all lower branches and leaves that receive little to no light are removed, concentrating the plant's energy on upper canopy bud sites and improving airflow at the base.
The main physical work session of the episode at the greenhouse (day 21 flower) involved Mr. Q, Dakota, and the grow bro lollipopping and defoliating approximately 250 plants. Mr. Q advised working from the bottom up: identify and remove lower branches not reaching the top first, before trimming upper foliage.
