The excess nutrient solution that drains out of the bottom of a container after irrigation, used as a metric to confirm full saturation and to check substrate EC/pH.
Dakota pre-saturates the coco before transplanting by targeting approximately 2% runoff relative to pot size. For 2-gallon pots that equates to ~150 ml runoff per pot, or 4.5 L total for both beds. He measures runoff volume over timed test runs to calibrate irrigation cycles.
