Cover crop 🌿 Cultivation

Plants grown on the surface of a bed between or alongside the main crop to protect soil, fix nitrogen, suppress weeds, retain moisture, and feed soil biology when cut and incorporated.

Most greenhouse beds use BuildASoil cover crop mix; one bed uses a cheaper Amazon-sourced mix as a comparison test. Before transplant, cover crop is cut and laid down as a mulch layer to provide moisture retention and nitrogen. Dakota notes visible mushrooms growing alongside it.
